All About LACA
The Latin America Community Assistance Foundation (LACA) is a non-profit public charity dedicated to improving the well being of the rural poor in Latin America. LACA enjoys 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, which means contributions are normally tax deductible. LACA is not affiliated with any religious group or government agency.
LACA is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors that meets six times a year to review requests for aid. LACA has no paid staff. Even volunteers who travel to Latin America on medical clinics and other aid programs pay their own way. As a result, 95.5% of the funds raised by LACA go directly to the rural poor. This is one of the highest rates of success among all non-profits.
LACA was founded in 1992 to provide aid to Honduras which, at the time, was the most impoverished country in Latin America. In the past 14 yeas our programs have expanded to embrace eight countries: El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Panama.
